A Year Gone By - Sunanda VashishtSunanda Vashisht Sunanda Vashisht was born in the beautiful valley of Kashmir, India when Kashmir was known for its unparalleled natural beauty and not as a cauldron of fear and terror. She did most of her schooling in Delhi and dabbled with several professions before moving to U.S last year. she is currently pursuing higher studies here. she likes to introduce herself as an explorer because she wants to spend all her time in this world exploring unknown. Writing for her is a cathartic experience. She can't remember when she began writing first but she does know that writing has always helped her to be at peace with herself and with the world around her.

It is that time of the year again. That time when we sit up and think about the year gone by and the year ahead of us. That time when we take stock of our accomplishments, our future goals and aspirations. I personally dread December because it asks brutal questions as it gives way to the first month of the brand new year. At SAWF, however, this has been an extremely fruitful year for all of us.
Those of you who have been with us regularly through the last year would have noticed the changes that we incorporated in SAWF in a big way. First of all, we made some changes to the look of the webzine. The credit for that goes to Vijainder Thakur.
My sincere thanks to Vijainder for working tirelessly and selflessly for SAWF. Very inspiring for all of us. As far as the new improved look is concerned, I have received a lot of positive feedback on how improved SAWF is even more attractive to the person visiting our site for the first time.
This brings me to another important detail that I would like to share with our readers. The traffic on SAWF has been increasing steadily and I believe in last few months our
Bollywood section has been very popular with most people and of course our Music archives are something that I am told are extremely popular with connoisseurs and general readers alike.
We are extremely honored to welcome Ms. Vimla Patil amongst us. As you must have noticed that Vimla ji is now a regular columnist with SAWF covering Bollywood, Fashion and Culture. She brings us the insider’s view from aamchi Mumbai. I am a great fan of Vimla ji and to have her with SAWF is a matter of immense pride for me. I could easily say that having Vimla ji on board is easily one of our biggest achievements of 2004.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sunny Singh for her continued support to our cause. Her presence on SAWF is definitely something we all cherish. Sunny has created her own huge fan following among SAWF readers and she has readers asking for more and more. I would also like to thank Sunny for her active participation on the forum as well.
We have also introduced SAWF photoservice and I would recommend this to one and all to try it at least once. I am sure you will really like it.
Another new feature that I am very excited about is SAWF newsletter. That is a great way to keep you updated on what is new on SAWF. Do go ahead and subscribe to the newsletter today and you will be pleasantly surprised.
I am also very pleased to inform you that Herbal Cosmetic Queen Shahnaz Hussain continues to support us and you are welcome to post your queries to her.
You can also view Ritu Kumar’s latest collection on SAWF. In 2004 we have really tried to reach out to all kinds of audience. Today I can confidently say that on SAWF there is a little something for everyone of us.
Our new feature Star track has been very well received. Also our up to date reviews of new movies is something readers eagerly wait for. I would like to emphasize here that SAWF has always encouraged new talent. If you are a movie buff and would like to comment on any of our movie reviews then go ahead. We would really welcome all the criticism and it doesn’t all have to be positive (!)
This is true for any of our columns. We really appreciate reader participation. If you would like to comment on an article or if you would like to write one of your own, please let us know. SAWF is always on a look out for bright talent out there.
Last but not the least I would like to thank my anchor and our Managing Editor, Anita Thakur. Her energy and laughter is infectious. She is a great believer and has me believing a lot of things that I initially thought were impossible. But with her constant guidance in 2004 we have made a lot of progress towards achieving our goal for SAWF.
SAWF personally has been a great source of solace and inspiration for me. It has given me a sense of achievement and self esteem that I somewhat missed before. SAWF belongs to all of us. I would really like to extend my thanks to all our contributing columnists and also those who contribute regularly to the forum. I would also like to thank our faithful readers who ensure that we keep the crusade called SAWF going.
Till we connect again...
