Q 1: I am 23 years old. I had long hairs but I cut it till shoulder level. Now I want to grow it back. How I can grow my hair long till my waist in a few months? please suggest me something!

Disha Chhibber

Shahnaz Answers: The rate of hair growth lengthwise depends mainly on hereditary factors. If the rate of growth of your hair is slow, you may have to wait for a longer time. However, you should have a balanced diet, with adequate protein. Include sprouts in your daily diet and ask your doctor to prescribe vitamin and mineral supplements. Give your hair weekly oil treatments, so that they do not become dry and acquire split ends. Use a mild herbal shampoo. Avoid the use of rubber bands, wire brushes and wire rollers.

Q 2: Thank you very much for your reply on August 30, 2004. As you mentioned to me I am using shahenna and sharinse. As well as I am putting hot oil in my hair twice in a week. I even use shatone everyday but I think it makes my hair dry. It has gone less but I still loose hair. I have very thin hair so I have to dry to look good. I do color my hair. Do you think because of color I loose hair? Do you have any suggestions?

Ruby Shah

Shahnaz Answers: Yes, repeated colouring of the hair causes hair damage and can lead to hair loss. But, you say that your hair loss has reduced. So, if you continue the treatment, the hair loss will be checked. If you continue to colour your hair, you may have to step up the oil treatments. Include sprouts in your daily diet.

Q 3: I am 20yrs old I am very worried about my skin. I dont have any glow on my face. I look dull very soon. My skin becomeS black very soon. Please suggest me some method by which my skin becomeS fair please.

Nellam Singh

Shahnaz Answers: You should use a sunscreen before going out in the sun. Use a facial scrub according to your skin type twice a week. You can try using our new natural fairness cream, called Fair One. You can also use a face mask two or three times a week. Mix 3 teaspoons choker (wheat bran) or oatbran with one teaspoon each of honey, curd (yogurt) and egg white. Apply it on the face, avoiding the lips and the area around the eyes. Wash it off when it is dry, or after 20 to 30 minutes. After consulting your doctor, take some regular exercise.

Q 4: I am 20yrs old. I am facing a problem i.e.my face is oily. I will be white only for short time after my face wash but soon my face looks oily and black in colour. Please suggest me how to keep my face shiny. But tell me what I can prepare at home with natural things. Another problem is there are dark circles around my eyes. Even though I sleep well I am facing with these problems. Please suggest me how to cure this.

Shahnaz Answers: You should use a cleanser for oily skin. Buy an astringent and mix it with rose water in equal quantities, i.e. if you take one tablespoon astringent, you should mix one tablespoon rose water. After cleansing, wipe the skin with this lotion, using cotton wool. You can wipe the skin with it two or three times a day, to refresh the skin and reduce oil. You can also mix besan with curd and apply on the face two or three times a week. Wash it off after 20 minutes. For dark circles, mix cucumber juice with potato juice in equal quantities and apply daily around the eyes. Wash it off after 15 minutes. Include fresh fruits, raw salads, sprouts and yogurt in your daily diet. Do some deep breathing exercises daily. Adequate sleep, nutritious diet and lack of stress are also important for treating dark circles.
