Your longing, desperate eyes
Hunt a sea of unknown faces
Once as familiar as the break of a new day
Now as daunting as Medusa's cold stare;

You yearn for a visage, one that will put you at ease,
Searching for someone to acquit you of this mar,
Unfetter you from its bounds of Amistad's chains
And detract you from this perpetual plot of defamation.

You wonder then, why you held them so near
To the direct passage of the most fragile sensibilities
Broken now you try to put the pieces back together
And then embrace solitude, a friend who won't betray.

You plead for a closure only to realize too late,
They were your eyes that stared the stone cold glare.
