Q 1: I have large pores on my face due to pimples & whiteheads. Please advice me some home made product

Rosy Satija

Shahnaz Answers: Pores get enlarged due to the oozing of excess oil over a period of time. The elasticity of the pores are weakened. So, you should use a skin tonic meant for oily skin to wipe your face. You can buy an astringent and mix rose water with it in equal quantities. Keep in a bottle in the fridge. Wipe the face with it, using cotton wool. To tighten the pores, mix 3 teaspoons oat bran with a teaspoon each of curd, honey and egg white. Apply this on the areas with open pores and wash it off when it is dry. The left-over mixture can be kept in the fridge, to be used the next day.

Q 2: I have been asked by my beatician who has taken a course from your institute that I use the gold pack daily along with moisteriser to provide a glow to the face and that a foundation is not required at all. I have been using this for more than three months now that after using this although my face glows when the pack is there on my face after washing it leaves my face dry and the skin is peeling out continuously. I pointed this out to my beautician but she insisted that i continue the same way and after all the dead skin peels out it will leave a soft skin. she has no clue approximately how much time this will take.
I am not at all satisfied, please advice.

Dr Shyama

Shahnaz Answers: You should also use the Gold Skin Radiance Gel with the moisturiser. This a dual cream. Apply the gel first and then apply the moisturising cream and massage it on the face for 2 minutes. You can leave it on and then apply the mask. If the skin is peeling, there is lack of moisture. The Gold range is not a substitute for other skin care products like a cleanser, toner, sunscreen. You need not use the gold products daily. Instead, use a cleansing gel, like Shacleanse, daily and apply a sunscreen before going out in the sun. At night, after cleansing, apply Shalife daily and massage it on the skin with a few drops of water. Wipe off with moist cotton wool. The gold products can be used twice a week.

Q 3: How do we come to know which one is the right foundation for our skin? My skin is both the combination of oily and dry. After I wash my face I see white patches on my skin near forehead and cheeks. Plz help me out.

Preeti Raj

Shahnaz Answers: You can apply a little moisturizer on the dry areas about 10 minutes before applying the foundation. On the white patches, apply a foundation which is a shade darker than the one you normally use. Or, you can try a concealer which is a shade darker than your normal foundation. With make-up, one has to try out different products and techniques, to see what suits. Try a creamy foundation after adding a drop of water - this way you can get a lighter coverage, which will also suit the oily parts. As far as the white patches are concerned, you should get it checked by a dermatologist.

Q 4: I break out after threading my face, specially the cheeks and chin area. What can I do to prevent it.

Reena Sharma

Shahnaz Answers: Your skin may be sensitive. Do you do your own threading, or have it done at a beauty salon? What you can do is to apply a soothing cream after threading, like Shabase (sandalwood protective cream) or Shaclove. Clean your skin before the threading and make sure to apply a.
