Q 1: I have a number of small pimple like stuff on my face all the year through. I am a journalist and have to face sunlight and pollution the whole day. Is there anything i can do at night. i would like to have a clear skin, pls help...

Misha Gupta

Shahnaz Answers: Firstly, you need to provide protection to your skin. You can mix a small quantity of Shabase (sandalwood protective cream) with a small quantity of Shasilk. Apply this on the face and leave on during the day. Or, you can carry Sharose in your handbag, along with cleansing pads or tissues. Wipe your face with Sharose 2 or 3 times, to refresh and cleanse the skin. This also contains sandalwood and provides protection. Cleansing the skin is imperative at night, using a cleanser which is suited to your skin type. I would recommend Shazema. Rinse well with plain water after cleansing.

Q 2: I have large pores on my face due to pimples & whiteheads . Please advice me some home made product

Rosy Satija

Shahnaz Answers: Pores get enlarged due to constant oozing of oil, leading to a loss of elasticity. Use a cleanser for oily skin twice a day. Cleansing and removing the oil is important. You can buy an astringent and mix it with rose water in equal quantities. Use this to wipe the face after cleansing. For the pores, mix oat bran with one teaspoon each of honey, egg white and yogurt. Apply on the area with open pores. Wash it off when it dries.

Q 3: I am 35 and I have developed black pigmentation on my cheeks and forehead after coming to the US. I use bleach on face once in 2 or 3 months. I use sun protection cream when I go out. Pls advise how to remove the blemishes.

Shahnaz Herbals Shablem for scars

Shahnaz Answers: Yes, using a sunscreen is very important. If you stay out in the sun for more than 30 minutes, you should reapply the sunscreen. As far as specialized products are concerned, you can apply Shawhite lotion on the dark areas after cleansing in the morning and before applying sun-protection cream/lotion. In the evening, apply Shafair on the dark areas. At night, after cleansing, apply Shablem on the dark areas by rubbing it into the skin and leaving on. As a home remedy, apply curd or milk on the dark areas and wash it off after 20 minutes. If you have dry skin, I would recommend the use of Shalife at night. This has to be massaged on the skin with a few drops of water. Wipe off with moist cotton wool and then apply Shablem.

Q 4: My daughter is 10 year old and very hairy on face. Is there any home remedy for removing hair? What she should use to wash her face. Right now she just washes with plain water. Can I use henna on my 7 yr old daughter's hair. Her hair are very silky and mehandi may make it manageble!

Deepali Patel

Shahnaz Answers: You can try making a stiff dough with wheat flour mixed with milk, which should be rubbed gently on the skin. Or she can apply besan mixed with milk on the areas about 15 to 20 minutes before bathing. Yes, henna may be applied, provided you use good quality henna powder.
