Since its inception over 5 years ago, South Asian Women’s Forums (SAWF) has acquired a loyal readership even as it has gained in stature as a reference site for Indian Classical Music and culture. We have become the forum of choice for Indian women settled in the US who wish to express themselves and stay in touch with their cultural roots. If you have something to say…not only can you say it on Sawf you can also be sure you will be appreciated for saying it.
Regular readers of SAWF may have noticed recent improvements in our content and presentation. Our focus on culture is now being broadened to include other matters of interest to Indian women – bollywood, fashions, beauty and jewelry. As Sunny Singh in her recent post during a discussion on Sarees said … lets remind ourselves that this is after all the South Asian women´s forum, and girl-talk is good for the soul. :-)
Our team of regular and talented contributors consisting of Sunny Singh, Tarannum Manjul, Sandhya Acharaya, Rani Iyer among others was recently augmented by the addition of the legendry Shahnaz Husain who is writing a regular column on beauty for our webzine Connect.
Shahnaz Ji, with whom I have a personal association dating back to my years as an Air Force Officer’s wife in Delhi , not only writes a regular column but is readily accessible to our readers to answer personal questions.
But there is, of course, more to come. Vimla Patil, founding editor of Femina has kindly consented to write a regular column on Fashions and Bollywood for Sawf. Another notable addition to the team comes in the form of Sudha Seshadari an author and senior journalist. She will be writing regular columns on Indian marriage traditions.
I am excited over the new turn that Sawf has taken as well as the participation of stalwart journalists such as Vimla and Sudha Ji on our site.
In the past our team has relied on your guidance and unflinching loyalty. Please keep the suggestions flowing. After all, this is one place you will always be heard. And yes, spread the message amongst your friends and family that you made the right choice with the South Asian Women’s Forum.
Till we connect again...
