Reflective Of A Beautiful Moment
By- Khalida H Ashrafi

Khalida calls herself a BBCD, (British born confused Desi!) by her own admission! She works at the University of Leeds as a Research Officer. She is currently evaluating a post natal listening service for Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Chinese Women. Her other working interest is in offering training to professionals on Ethnicity race and health issues.
In Khalida's words, "I have lots of hobbies, poem writing being one, comedy writing being another!! Im currently writing a short piece that has been commissioned by a Theatre company in London, about three asian middle aged women on a day trip to London. I am also trying my hand at amature dramatics, I have a part in a play due to be staged in November.I also compere at various events ( and my knees wobble every time!) Other passionate likes: Urdu poetry, infact the language as a whole, R 'n' B music, comedy (esp. the 'goodness gracious me' team), international cuisine, Badminton and a good work out in the gym! Passionate hates: racism, inequality of any nature, double standards, ignorance, karrela's and plastic flowers!"

Faith...

She held virtue in one hand,
and immortal love in the other,
smiling, she clasped her hands
and offered them to me,
her serene beauty
filled my eyes with tears,
catching them
as though they were pearls
in the centre of her palm,
I saw inscribed
your name...
