In a shocking incident, a woman in Bahlolpur village of Uttar Pradesh's JP Nagar District was beaten up and stripped publicly for opposing eve-teasing by a young boy.

The victim Omvati’s fault was that she objected to teasing allegedly by a young boy called Amit at a wedding ceremony held recently in the village.

However, rather than admonishing the young boy, the villagers beat her and stripped her in public glare.

Omvati, now, has sought justice from her village Panchayat.

"A Panchayat had been called to settle a case pertaining to eve teasing. Reportedly, a few youngsters have unveiled a woman's face and it led to a chaos. Next day, in Panchayat, the woman is reported to have hit the father of the accused with her slipper. Later, the enraged son with his friends beat up the woman and stripped her naked," said A P Singh, Circle Officer, Gajrola Police Station.

Omvati has denied the allegation of hitting the father of the main accused.

"I went to the village Panchayat and the Panchayat called the accused. His father came instead. I was explaining to his father by pulling his shawl that his son unveiled me like this. However, he started screaming and alleged that I have slapped him, though I didn't. Seeing the chaos everyone fled away and the man's son with few others dragged me out of my house and have beaten me and stripped me naked publicly," said Omvati.

A case has been registered against Amit and eight others. (ANI)
