Tattoo, a Style Statement in Bangalore

Majority of girls and boys in Bangalore have taken a fancy for their bodies to be tattooed as the stylish index of identity.
Tattooing has not been part of Bangaloreans' culture, but these days one cannot miss the flowers, intertwined hearts and the name of beloved ones on necks, arms and legs.
From abstract designs to the ever-popular 'Om ', tattoo culture has picked up in Bangalore over the past two years.
"Here, it's growing in a very rapid way. There are plenty of matured artists coming in Bangalore and after Mumbai and Goa I feel Bangalore is the hotspot now to get tattoos. Plenty of people are coming from Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala. They are coming here to get tattooed done because they are easily accessible for them to drop in here," said Girish, a tattoo artist.
The basic price of the tattoo is Rupees 1500 while the coloured tattoos cost Rupees 3000 and beyond.
“The majority of clientele includes IT professionals, thanks to their higher pay-packages. This comes from the fact that the starting price of a tattoo is Rs 1500 whereas the cost of coloured tattoo's starts at about Rs. 3000,” he said.
Though the craze is equal among men and women, one has to be very confident before getting a tattoo done as it's a life-time mark on the body. With the needle pricking up to four times a minute in the body, tattooing is all about flaunting it.
The word tattoo comes from the Tahitian "tatu" that means, "to mark something".
The purpose of tattooing varies among different cultures. In certain cultures, tattoos play an important role in ritual and tradition.
In Borneo, women tattoo their symbols on their forearm indicating their profession. The earliest tattoos are believed to have been found in Egypt. (ANI)
