Support.com, a market-leading supplier of eSupport solutions, announced on 1 Feb 2000 that their president and CEO Radha Basu has been nationally recognized for her significant contribution to the advancement of Internet technology and for her strong leadership in the community.
San Francisco Women on the Web (SF WoW) recognized 25 local and international women who have most inspired people worldwide with their efforts to advance technology, contribute to the community, and set an example as successful business women in the Internet and new media industries.
The theme for this year's awards is Leaders of the Millennium and honors those who have helped increase the number of women on the Internet to nearly half the Internet population, and emphasizes the community-based network of women helping each other in technology related fields.
The winners were chosen from a nomination pool of over 200 women worldwide. A panel of judges, including many former Top 25 award winners, selected the winners. Judging criteria included how the nominee helped build community, how she gave back to that community, and her recent accomplishments.
Basu brings a tremendous amount of business-savvy to the world of technology both here and abroad. Prior to joining Support.com, Basu was the general manager for international software at Hewlett Packard; her 20 year career with the company led to many fiscal and personal accomplishments. In the mid-1980s, the Indian government invited her to establish one of country's first, and later most successful, foreign subsidiaries, and Basu developed HP's software center in Bangalore. The office still thrives with a staff of over 400 thanks to Basu's leadership skills.
Basu currently sits on the Board of Directors for ConnectInc.com and SEEC, Inc., a software products and business solutions firm.
