My New Year Resolution:
My New Year resolution personally is that I would like to spend more time with my family, and also to relax and enjoy life. Professionally, I would like to establish my Ayurvedic SPA line in India as I have done abroad.
What I learnt during 2004:
|
I have been struggling for the last 34 years to establish Ayurveda abroad. With the recent launch of our very unusual Ayurvedic Diamond Collection in Japan, New York and London. I now find in 2004, the West has recognized Ayurveda internationally. Seeing the benefits of Ayurveda encasing India’s 5000 year old civilization, prestigious Stores like Selfridges and Harrods have huge display boards in their show Windows advertising the benefits of Ayurveda.

Above all, it was very satisfying to see that recently the Time magazine had Yoga on the cover and a detailed article inside narrating the benefits of Ayurveda. The lesson learnt is that India has finally arrived internationally on the world scene as far as Ayurveda is concerned. There is no need to struggle now for promoting India internationally. I strongly believe that Ayurveda must and will lead the billion dollar cosmetic industry into the next century.
The most memorable moment of 2004.
The much awaited Shahnaz Professional Power range, which has been under R&D for several years has now entered the market at an extremely affordable price so that every salon in the country can buy Shahnaz Professional Power range. Keeping in mind the financial limitation of even the smaller salons who find that Shahnaz professional range is financially out of their reach, will now be able to buy them freely. This range has been specially developed keeping in mind the large vacuum of genuinely effective herbal and Ayurvedic products for beauty treatments and cures. Huge amounts of fake Shahnaz products which were used in other parlours, ultimately damaging our brand name will now be replaced by the original Shahnaz Professional Power range at a fraction of the price of the Shahnaz Brand. This is a most memorable moment of 2004.
My plans for New Year's Eve:
Each New Year’s Eve is significant, because it heralds a New Year. I plan to spend New Year’s Eve in Delhi with my family and close friends. Delhi has been my home, the city where I realised the magic of my dreams We will have a gala New Year’s Eve party. At this point of time I don't know how many guests there will be, because my guest list usually keeps growing! But, a few close relatives and friends will be there. Some senior members of my staff will also be present. The décor will be very festive of course, because I love decoration and adornments, like cascades of flowers, interspersed with green vines, streamers and gaily-coloured balloons too. There will be dancing, which I love. My son, Samir, will arrange the lighting and decide on the music, as he usually does.
For the dinner, we may have traditional fare, with Biryani, Korma, Kababs and rotis, naans and sheermaal. There will be a variety of salads too. For dessert, we will have a New Year cake, along with ice creams and other sweet dishes. I am very particular about the food when I entertain and decide on the menu myself.
I have not yet decided what I will wear, but it will be in the style that I always dress. I love black, or I may wear wine coloured velvet, trimmed with fur, because it will be cold.
Bringing in the New Year will be very special. At the stroke of midnight, when the lights dim, it will herald a spectacular welcome to the new year. We may even greet my guests with the Happy New Year greeting etched in lights. With dancing, good food and a very special occasion, the party is bound to carry on way past midnight, till the early hours of New Years Day.
