Meenakshi Madhur comments : I happen to be not too far away from Nagpur (in Amravati) as I write my views on this incident.
When I first read about this in the papers, I was pleased to know that our indian people have at last found a unique and effective solution to the problems that are uniuque to indian context.
When the justice system is unable to cope with the sheer number of cases and is ridden with loopholes and corruption, collective execution of justice by the people seems to be the solution.
As I witness first hand the callous, indifferent and appallingly poor attitude displayed by public servants (whichever department i go), this incident has inspired in my mind ideas to deal with even civil problems that the public is being subjected to at a criminal proportion.
For example, it is common to see the newly built roads filled with potholes (pot craters would be a better word). This happens because of the nexus between contractor and the government engineer that together aim at filling their own coffers while duping the public by building a very low quality road.
To address this rampant problem, people simply must collectively find out the responsible contractor and engineer and give them a good public thrashing (no killing required). This would perhaps send signals to the future road contractors and engineers.
What cant be done with people power!
Got to love my homeland which although is infested with unique problems, also has people who can come up with unique solutions!
