I visited the site after a long long time and the first article I came across was this. Very well written...brings across the feelings of people living abroad very well. To me it also brought home the fact that we who live here take all this for granted! Also, I had almost forgotten about the Yama related ritual...

I was born in London and have lived in a place called Southall, which is a little India to all that live there, due the the large majority of Indians(mainly Punjabi's).I have celabrated Diwali all my life(twice in India). This Year I too am in Barcelona, and there is nothing here that makes you feel festive about Diwali.(I also had the Christmas Lights experience.Strange vibe about
that!)Anyway,to all those people out there in a similar situation, and everybody else HAPPY DIWALI.

Sanjeev Sehdev comments :
I know this is a woman's forum, but this time i am sure the feelings are the same.
