Sandhya,

All i can say is 'Aikdam Mast piece likhelaa hai!' Loved it! The key Mumbaiyyaa phrases that you have chosen to explain ..(and you have explained them quite well!)...also capture the essence of being a Mumbai-waalaa.

Sandhaya,
Greetings
Must say 'Kaya mast piece likhelaa hai'...as was rightly said above.
It is really a beautifully written piece, with appropriate descriptions which take you to the core of the subject matter. In the process painting a very vivid picture of Mumbaiyya and our beloved Mumbai, the sprawlin crowded place also brightened by those internationally heralded Dabbawalas, the memories of which will always be cherished. It is such a amgnetic force that every one who comes in its contact just gets stuck to it eternally.Yr piece has rekindled the fond memories. Our children spent 8/10 fruitful and memorable formative years there and have re-lived the moments reading yr article which has got well circulated. It indeed needs greater exposure... and we had a few tears of Nostalgia roling down!..That is Mumbai brought nearer by you.
You are doing well. This was a bit in Khushwat Singh estyle! Wish you well. Pl keep in touch.

Hi Sandhya,
I think 'mast article' describes it aptly.V.well written ,brings out the spirit of the language and the city so beautifully.
reminded me of 'monsoon wedding'which is about the Punjabi community's love for life.

Hi,
good stuff..brought back memories of my "thetar" buddies, and sitting in the Prithvi theatre cafe drinking their special Irish coffees (without the whisky)...and pigging on vada pao and chai brought in backstage by the guy from the corner...you missed my favourite: khaali peeli bheja mat kha..
