Your articles are very informative. In Bageshree you have given some information of Raag Malgunji. As far as I am concerned I know three more Songs which are composed also in Malgunji 1. Nain so nain nahi milao - Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje 2. Unko Yeh Shikayat hai - Adalat 3. Ghar aaja Ghir Aaye - Chhote Nawab (First song of RD Burman) I just want to clarify from expert person like you whether I am right on above mentioned 3 songs!
Thanks for your informative site. Raaga-parichay is informative. It is really a great contribution to the knowledge seekers.
With best wishes Basavaraj

Damodar Singh Raut comments : Why, oh why, Mr Parrikar, have you allowed your otherwise marvellous, erudite and lovingly written/prepared submissions to be marred by this spiteful hatred of Bengalis? You cannot on the one hand do without them. But you call Ali Akbar 'Alu', you sneer at ''Bongs'', you belittle Manna Dey, you tread over Ravi Shankar and Allauddin Khan, you ignore Hemant Kumar and Salil Choudhury, and you joke about someone 'conspiring' to show a Datta as a Bengali. And you think you make up for all your lapses by calling Kishor Kumar 'Pandit'?
What a pity - and how disappointingly and ironically provincial in a website about a Pan-indian art.
Hopefully, you will grow up one of these days....
Debashish Chakravarti comments : "Several musicians of high standing learnt from him, among them his nephew Aman Ali Khan of the Bhendibazar Gharana (and through Aman Ali the influence extended to Amir Khan"
2. The comment above needs clarification. Rajab Ali Khan's nephew was the short-lived Amanat Khan of Indore who had a wonderful elastic voice with a clear leading edge to it. His style like Rajab Ali's was tan-dominant. While Amir Khan's phirat was reportedly influenced by him, Amir Khan's riaz recorded from the late 1940s and early 1950s already sounds quite different. Aman Ali Khan also exerted considerable influence on Amir Khan. His other well-known student was Shivkumar Shukla whose composition in Shahana was frequently sung by Amir Khan: " Sundara anganaa"
The author responds: I had been given to understand that the 'sundara angana' bandish in Shanana was a Shivkumar Shukla composition but my source was not too sure about it and I have not been able to verify it myself (hence I called it paramparik in my Kanada article). I understand there is a published (or private) documented collection somewhere of Shukla's compositions. Do you have any reference? Regards. Rajan P. Parrikar
Indiresh Maktal comments : Mr.Parrikar, I visited this site and found to be very useful for learners like me. I am not a professional musician. But I am deeply interested in Carnatic music. However, I do listen to Hindustani music also. I believe that - but for the difference in style " Shruti and Laya " are one. So, I do not differentiate. From the perspective of learning, I wanted to download some of the clips... but I could not. I was wondering, if I can get the complete recording from you. I have no intention of using it commercially. I have collected quite a few concerts of Dr.Balamurali Krishna and other artists since 1976.. I freely share my collections with those who have interest in learing music. I was wondering if I can do so with you. I also liked your article on Kalyani, and your collection of G.N.Balasubramaniam's Ragam , Thanam.. I wish the complete record was available. With regards, Indiresh Maktal
Do you happen to have a recording of Aman Ali Khan Bhendibazar gharana's Rageshri, Hansadhwani or any other Raga? Are there any such pieces of his recorded? I am sure that you must have something of the man , after hearing your fantastic collection.
Please kindly do resopond as I look forward to hear Aman Ali's music.
Thank you
Best regards

David Whetstone comments : Dear Parrikarji, I am a long time student of the sitar, and I heard a recording played for me some years ago in 1988 by the tabla maestro Diam Ali Qadri, in Delhi, musically just a wonderful recording, of Shivkumar Shukla. I have been trying to find any recordings of him ever since. Your site came up by word search. Are you by chance aware of any of any recordings? i would so appreciate a response!
