Aftab Datta comments :
Hello. Just a question, are you sure that excerpt from Raagini is really Amanat Ali and Fateh Ali. It doesnt sound like them at all, actually more like Amir Khan and someone else. I was just wondering.
Aftab

The author responds:
The cassette jacket of RAAGINI credits Amir Khan but that is in error. Clearly there are two singers to begin with. Harmandir Singh's Hindi Film Music Encyclopaedia cites Amanat Ali and Fateh Ali as the singers; the compiler apparently verified this piece of information with the music director O.P. Nayyar.
Warm regards,

Dear Mr.Parrikar,
Many thanks for writing such informative articles. I was thoroughly impressed by the masterful & expert selection of excerpts of musical renderings of yesteryears which are hard to listen to nowadays.I am interested in reading Hindustani Sangeet Padhdhati by Pt.V.N.Bhatkhande. Can you please help me?

Dear Rajan,

I have long appreciated the effort and imagination that have gone into your site. All music lovers owe you a great debt.

On making music widely accessible, is there any copyright issue in putting up sound files on one's web as you do? Are these old recordings outside the copyright realm of the original record makers (e.g. HMV?). I ask because on my own web site I have just put up a few trial ram files (and can do many more, as part of the general idea that this wonderful music needs to be shared widely and freely), but don't want to get the server into legal trouble about copyright issues, and would like to ask your advice on the matter.

Do you have Raga Shamkalyan sung by Shrimati Hirabai Badodekar or Shrimati Manik Varma . In my opinion they are really master pieces. "textbook" presentation.

Dear Rajan:
This is indeed an excellent effort by you. It is so convenient and educative for young students to hear many maestros of Hindustani Classical Music on one web site. It must have taken much time and effort to collect such rare but master pieces.
I am expressing my sincere gratitude. I wish young generations make use of such web sites to learn Hindustani Classical Music.

Dear Mr Parrikkar,
It was delightful to hear the exerpts on Kamod and Shyam Kalyaan . More so the brief explanations are really very good for amateur practitioners like me. If you could put up some performances of Gajanan Rao on violin it will be a singular contribution
