Philippa Perry comments : I am commenting on The Lady On The Second Floor - By- Khurshid Khoree
I came across this article by accident when I was researching how therapists market themselves! What a beautiful, perfect, moving story it is. I want to say thank you to the author for sharing her wonderful creativity. Thanks, Philippa
Not Stupid comments : it takes little imagination to realise how this wool is harvested. THE ANIMAL MUST BE KILLED. ------------------ I would like to know why this animal must be killed to harvest their Cashmere (which is what it REALLY is being that it is the undercoat as is on any goat or antelope).Furthermore- There is NO such thing as a Cashmere goat- this is the name of the fiber undercoating ALL goats have- some breeds have more some have less. This Pashmina hype is Just that.. special goats called Capra-Hircus- Puleese.. this is the scientific name given to ALL domestic goats. You may be kidding the city people.. but no way are you kidding the goat breeders of America (who by the way have just as good quality of Cashmere sheared off their goats as the ones in as Tibet or Kasmir) Get real and stop driving the public to tall tales about some special goats in some fairytale land producing some special fiber so you can charge an arm and a leg for it. BTW.. I must own a trillion dollars worth of goats then with my herd of over 155 'pashmina producing goats' in my yard. Im Sure! Send me a check will ya? I shear some Pashmina for you..
Eyes Open comments : Thank you for sending this information out to the world. Anyone who has a conscience will leave these poor Chiku in peace.
Furhat Subla comments : so called activist has failed toget the real truth about wool i appeal to activist give the real picture to the world noboby has cared about womenflok those rendered jobless due to ban on wool and sale of product.the jammu and kashmir state human right commision in its landmark jugment hasrecommended the govt of india to revoke the ban either prove that the animal is killed or support the livehood to the people involed in this trade and production
Kkg comments : what about persons those who have purchased shawls some 40 years ago when it was not banned
E. Alcain comments : This beautiful antelope has to be preserved and protected from such awful treatment at all cost. What about installing a law in all countries that whoever weares one shawl, or anything out of Shahtoosh, is obliged to pay a very high fee? Enjoy life but not a the expense and suffering of anyone else.
Gigi Pinto comments : I agree that pashmina is an excellent substitute for shahtoosh and sustainable as well. Traditional shahtoosh weavers of Kashmir should shun chiru wool and convert to weaving pashmina. I'm sure their earnings will not decrease drastically if they stick to pashmina weaving as the real money in shahtoosh is made by the poachers of chiru and the final sellers of the shawls and not the weavers themselves.
Sheena Martin comments : saw a documentry on the slaughter of these beautifull animals on television last night, was totally appalled, yet another example of human greed, will we not be happy untill the whole animal species is wiped of the face of the earth
