Hi Kiranavali,

I am much impressed and thankful for deepening my understanding of the melakarta scheme. It is very well written and simple to understand.

I got to know of this website only recently and hence read all the articles written by you only today.
However, I do not see anything written after the article -'Melody in Carnatic Music - Part 4'. I was hoping for more to complete the series and another series to complete the basics of thalams.

Best wishes

Sankar

Hi! Tour Melakarta has a nice "fiinish"! My question is this: Wikipeda has a Melakarta like yours, but they use your scale names as Raga names. Since Raga and Mela (scale) isnīt the same thing, who is right? As I understand the Mela cooresponding to a certain Raga does not necessarily have the same name as the Raga itself. Where can I read about wich Melas and Ragas belong to each other, their names included?
