Sangeetha Rajan comments :
Nice article which reflects the true picture of south Indian marriages. I sincerely hope more people change their way of thinking about marriages after reading this.

Anita Thakur comments :
Srividya,

Thanks for sharing this article with us. I quite enjoyed reading it. I had attended two South Indian weddings in Bidar Karnataka way back in 1985. One was of a Lingayat family and the other a Muslim and it was such a wonderful experience. Almost entire Bidar had seemed to be part of the celebrations. The Lingayat wedding was attended by many of the Karnataka political heavy weights of that time as the father of the girl was a politician. I had felt the weddings were a lot simpler affairs than the weddings I had seen in Punjab. Both were daytime weddings. Most of the pre wedding rituals were almost the same at both the weddings.

Shoba Srinivasan comments :
would it be preferable to have a clinical approach to weddings, i wonder.

or, why not choose the minimalist approach- live together in love & sunshine.

hats off to the groom. is there any tamil brahmin boy who agrees to simple wedding?!!! hm really great

R.Balasubramanian comments :
Nice article no doubt. No doubt we Brahmins seek simple marriages. But this is one in a thousand case where all is well that ends well. But marriage should have its own charms however simple it is.
