Vandana Singh comments : THanks for a fascinating article --- succinct and intelligently written. Black Holes are among the greatest enigmas in our universe and it is good to be reminded of them amidst our small human concerns. Look forward to reading more articles by you!
Niranjan Jha comments : Thanks for the article! It was very interesting and it also helped me a lot with my school project on 'outer space'.
Divya comments : Thankyou for the generous words!!:)
Niranjan, Glad I could be of help!
Yogendran comments : This article, although written well has a couple of errors. First: General relativity IS relevant to Black holes ( so long as you don't get too close to the center). The black hole is quite well described by general relativity. As a body is compressed, its not correct to say that its gravitational attraction increases; however for the purpose of this article, its okay I guess. At the horizon the tidal forces are pretty negligible -- its only at the central singularity that they become important. Its a pretty simple calculation to see this. And string theory has provided a reasonable understanding of black holes ( although not in classical terms) -- but there are still a couple of important unresolved issues... Sincerely Yogendran
