R. Iyer comments : Nice audio clips from the carnatic Gallery! Enjoyed the Harikambodi selection-"Rajita amara paala'(a superb music trio) and Muthaiah Bhagavathar's daru varnam "matE malayaadhwaja pandE"...Listening to MS is always a breath of fresh air...
Shaswata Pal comments : Mr Rajan's musical sense might be of quite high quality however I fail to understand how a person practicing an art form that brings a being nearer to godliness can be so low enough to engage in regionalism (referring to Kishore Kumar and his bengalines). Also his lack of respect for Gurudev Rabindranath (calling him Rabby, wow, a good americanised indian classical expert we have here!) simply increases my disrespect for him and I guess it would be the same for any art loving individual. I just wonder how the editors could have posted such a narrow minded article. Again I think it is not the writer's writing skills or his subject knowledge but the Raga Khamaj that we love so much, that did the trick. Please ensure that such low quality articles are not posted in future.
Ramesh comments : Thanks for some nice pieces of carnatic classical. Who constitute the accompaniments for Tanjavur Sankara Iyer? One further comment, if you do not mind: I am seeing an interesting picture by the side under "Lifestyles". No offence at all. However, to have it while listening to Alathur brothers is an admixture of sorts.
Parthapratim Chakravorty comments : One must recognize and appreciate the amount of meticulous documentation underlying this article. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, THERE IS A GROSS MISTAKE. THE CLIP FROM Pt. SURESHBABU MANE'S DISC GE 8450 CEI 29117 PRESENTED HERE IS THE Tilang Thumri, NOT Khamaj! KHAMAJ WAS ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE SAME DISC. PLEASE CORRECT THE ERROR.
The author writes: Dear Shri Chakravorty: Thank you for your note. Relax. I am aware of the problem. If I recall correctly, this error is made on the HMV tape (which swaps the Tilang and Khamaj labels). I had made clips of both and this mislabeling carried over inadvertently. I should have caught it at the time of the write-up and during the clips test but somehow it slipped by. Only after the article went up I noticed the lapse. That clip was intended for use in the Tilang section. One of these days I will get around to fixing this. Perhaps your earnestness will force me to do it sooner than later. Regards. Rajan P. Parrikar
Devalina Sen comments : Very interesting site and article. Why such anger against Bongs?
Anirban Adhikary comments : Interesting site but if we call you marathis "MARA"s how would you feel. That is really a ridiculous and very humiliating. A scholar of your genre should have got respect for each and every Indian. You are provoking regionalism which is irrelevant. In fact with this knowledge giving site such of your comments are really irrelevant. And after all you have to admire and accept Bengal's culture, music, literature and tradition, foods everything and especially the intellect after all you should not forget the sayings of Tilak " What Bengal thinks today India thinks tomorrow.' Regards, Anirban.
Sangeetha comments : My grand mom was simply thrilled and happy to listen to vandaadum solai by M.S.Thanks a ton! BTW, could you please tell me where I can get to hear maalai pozhudinale by M.S. (lyrics by Kalki)
Abhay Manwalkar comments : Your are doing very very good job, but I d't see here Pt. Krishna Rao shakar Pandit's voice on this Raag "Kahamaj"
M.K.VARDARAJAN comments : I find no words to describe my joy to listen to audio clips of yester years vidwans like BGA, AKK, Begum, Lakshmi Shankar, Kesarbai, Siddeswari Devi. I do not know how to thank the author for giving us, the unfortunate ones who could not hear them in person, a chance to hear such magnificent voices. Also my special thanks for the Rajasthani Folk Wedding Song. Both the voices and the background rhythm in that song is wonderful.
Swati Apte comments : really nice work.appreciate the effort you took to make it available for other music lovers also. thanks............
