While "LayaBhaskar" Khaprumama Parvatkar is gone from our midsts and we have for sure lost recordings of his geneius, I suspect that there are others similar in ability living amongst us, mostly unkwnow.
I believe that one such person is Komarath Gopala Menon of Thrissur, Kerala. A master of the rhythms of Kerala's Percussion arts, he is very much alive. Ravin Sikander comments : Is it possible that another comes along like this one did? Yes I guess. But shocking to know that so much testing was done on his ability and none recorded it as a system. Those who did and are keeping it, one day hopefully if not destroyed, may be published. Imagine, today there could be a new chapter to tabla, or even a by product of this ability or style of understanding laya, in another industry or something. But after reading this and feeling my tears, I am glad that there was one, and the posibilities of tabla goes on, beyond those who believe that they have done it.
