Shanti Ranganathan comments : I heard about this site through a friend of mine. The column on Carnatic music is a great idea and you've done the right thing by inviting a knowledgeable musician with good literary skills as Ms. Kiranavali.
Looking forward to seeing more such articles,
Shanti

I am a computer programmer and I am trying to learn the Carnatic music Melakarta scheme for writing software based on Carnatic music. I really appreciate the step diagram giving the positions of swara sthanas. I searched many sites and asked many knowledgeable people, but none could explain it to me as clearly as that diagram did. It is very rare to find some one knowledgeable about music, yet can explain the basic concepts so simply. Usually, I have encountered only one or the other ability.
SRINIVASA GOPAL comments : Thanks for this excellent article. I am putting together a computer program to automatically play ragaas and was looking for an explaination of the science of the Carnatic Music.

Sudersen comments : Well written. I wish you would add demonstrations of the music. audio clips associated with the explanation will be perfect.
