Raj Shekar comments : Your bemused look at louts, learning, love, life and landlords is full of fun and chortle.....Melvin ... keep the humour flowing. I for one enjoy reading your fortnightly episodes.
Shiva comments : This article brings flood of memories of my schooldays where the dictum "spare the rod & spoil the child" was taken too seriously and the irony was that my teachers were nuns and their bossoms were supposedly brimming with kindness & empathy.
Danny Earnshaw comments : should Corporal Punishment be reintrodoced into schools.Corporal Punishment was bannd many years ago from our schools.People were going to bring it back but lots of people think its wrong but some people still think it should come back.I am going to show you Corporal Punishment should not come back. When teachers hit children the children can get bruised and get back injuries and end up in hospital some teachers would go too far and some children would get badly hurt.Corporal Punishment could cause bullying.
Dany comments : The views and opinions against corporal punishment is absolutely relevant in the current issues which has been seen in kerala schools recently. If it is in the public schools or government schools canning and spanking is still existing in kerala very severly. Ofcourse it is too evident in tutorials and tuition centres too. Because tuition mainly tortured boys and girls severly. Pupils buttocks and thighs are often bruished by these barbaric incidents. Most of the pupil belong to poor family back ground and they never going to complaint or further step has not been taken aginst these saddist teachers. When i was a student on my school days i had bitter experiences. I had a hindi teacher named Nalini she was so happy and enjoying the moment when she was beaten a boy with a cane on his buttocks and she was thigh pincher too. I personal notion about the teacher is she had got immense sexual pleasure when she was torturing the pupils. Anyway it is high time to think about this menance.
Sherman De Silva comments : As an SDA member, residing in Madurai, I extend my most sincere apologies and remorse to you for the harrowing experience you had suffered at the hands of a 'beast' in our schooling system. Though our schools are not meant for synonymising discipline with regimentation, it rarely does happen in a few of our institutions. Your experience is indeed an eye opener for some of our 'educators.'
As a layman, I shall do my best to prevent the recurrence of such bestial acts in our schools, which are meant to share the special bias Jesus had for children.
Wishing you great success in your journalistic pursuits,
Sincerely, Sherman
Prashanth comments : Your article is pretty amazing. The language and the style. We have to do something to change the system of education and student rights in india. Yay i go with you. ......supporter all the way....
