The Vijayanagar Empire My way of paying tribute to the mighty empire.
The brothers were breathing fire, With their hearts full of desire The built the greatest Hindu empire, Which, the whole world would admire.
Kingdom of heaven and peace, the plan Put forth by a learned man Carried out by brothers of the Kuruba clan, Empire, they built within a short span
People as brave as they were Fought the enemies without fear Till peace was brought to Vijayanagar The ‘City of Victory’, as they called her.
Her enemies were torn apart, Peninsular India in its chart She lived in peoples heart, The golden age was about to start.
The city was full of diamonds and gold In the bazaars and streets which they sold, Might of the empire began to unfold Nobody could keep it on hold
The legend spread far and wide Like a colossal tide. Now, long gone is the empire of pride Changing history, for us to abide.

Suppression of the Kuruba Gowda Commuinity( including the Royals...)began with the foreign invasion of India ( ...when, probably, the divide & rule policy was used). Kailash Komma comments : I am proud of u. Being a kuruba myself i felt elated after reading your poem. Ours is a great cast but problem is that we do not feel proud about ourselves. Keep it up i am with u. kailash. |
